A Process for Strategic Storytelling in the Boardroom

I keep waiting for someone to give me the nickname: The Board Whisperer.
Wouldn’t that be cool?
Here are some of the things I love about supporting executives with their board meetings:
I learn companies’ strategies and how they make money.
I get to say EBITDA and free cash flow and revenue and all my other favorite financial terms. I’m currently planning my “EBITDA” tattoo.
I see how companies solve problems, react when things are going great and pivot when they’re not so great.
I’ve also developed a process that’s working well as we add more board meeting support to our roster.
Deep dive with CEO/CFO to discuss the key points for the meeting, overarching business strategy and design preferences.
Interview additional key stakeholders – Presenters or subject matter experts – to gather information to develop a content outline.
Develop three design concepts for an elevated look and feel (first board meeting only)
Present a recommended content outline (deck flow, content and experience) and design concepts.
Upon approval of the outline and design, build the deck.
Hold feedback meetings along the way.
Finalize the deck with a working session prior to sending the board’s pre-read.
Added Bonus: Welcome the Small Potatoes team at your HQ to practice the presentation delivery prior to the big show.
If you need a partner to help you take your board meetings to the next level, I’d love to talk. Or whisper, perhaps?
